French Onion Dip
French Onion Dip
I made this dip for my parents anniversary party this past summer and then again this weekend to watch the Badger Game.
I got the recipe from my friend Andrea.
Ingredients
- 5 Tablespoons butter
- 4 cups yellow onion, chopped fine
- salt and pepper
- ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
- ⅓ cup water
- 1½ Tablespoons balsamic vinegar
- 2½ cups sour cream
- chopped chives
- Ruffles Chips
Directions
In a large skillet melt butter. Add onions, salt & pepper and cayenne. Cook on medium-low until translucent. About 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add half of the water and cook for about 5 minutes until water is evaporated. Add other half of water and continue cooking for another 5 minutes until caramelized. Stir in vinegar and cook for another minutes. Remove from heat and let cool until room temperature. Once cooled add sour cream and chives. Refrigerate for at least a half hour until chilled. Serve with chips.
